Lhe remarkable film by Darren Aronofsky The Wrestler, was established last night as the best film of North American independent cinema, at the Independent Spirit Awards ceremony.
The Wrestler also got the statuettes of Best Leading Actor, which went to Mickey Rourke's triumphant return to the big screen; and the one with the best photography, crowning the outstanding work of Maryse Alberti.
At the awards ceremony, which was hosted by British actor Steve Coogan, the latest film from the great Woody Allen, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which won two important awards: Penelope Cruz rose as best supporting actress, and Woody himself received the statuette for best screenplay.
Milk, the biographical film of Harvey Milk the first homosexual politician elected in the United States, collected two other awards, for Best Debut Screenplay, written by Dustin Lance Black, and Best Supporting Actor, James Franco.
In short, it was an edition that left everyone happy, because almost all the nominated films took home an award, crowning the work of all North American independent cinema.
